DNA transcription & translation tool
Paste a DNA sequence and get the mRNA transcript, the protein translation in all six reading frames, the longest open reading frame, GC content, reverse complement and melting temperature — instantly, in your browser. Your sequence never leaves your device.
0 bases · Spaces, line numbers and FASTA headers are removed automatically. Ambiguous IUPAC bases (N, R, Y…) are accepted; codons containing them translate as X.
mRNA transcript (5′→3′)
Longest open reading frame (all 6 frames)
Protein translation — forward frames
Protein translation — reverse-strand frames (−1, −2, −3)
Reverse complement frames
Complement DNA (3′→5′)
Reverse complement DNA (5′→3′)
How it works
From DNA to protein in three steps
- STEP 1
Paste your sequence
Plain text or FASTA, coding or template strand. Cleaning and validation happen automatically.
- STEP 2
Transcribe
The coding strand is copied into mRNA with uracil in place of thymine, exactly as RNA polymerase reads the template.
- STEP 3
Translate & analyse
All six reading frames are translated with the standard genetic code, the longest ORF is found, and GC content and melting temperature are calculated.
Questions
Is this DNA transcription tool free?
Yes. It is free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser — your sequence is never uploaded or stored.
What is the difference between the coding and template options?
The mRNA sequence matches the coding strand (with U instead of T). If you paste the template strand instead, choose the template option and the tool works from its reverse complement.
Which genetic code and conventions does it use?
The standard genetic code. Stop codons are shown as *, codons containing ambiguous bases as X, and the longest ORF is the longest ATG-to-stop stretch across all six frames.
